A Play It Again Sports store opens in the Grand Rapids area - Monday, December 05, 2011

WALKER - A Play It Again Sports
store will open in Walker this week,
with a grand opening planned for 10
a.m. Thursday.
Owner Jeff Hartnagel said he decided
to invest in the franchise that buys and
sells gently-used, quality sports
equipment and gear because of his
lifelong love of sports.
“I have two boys who are very active
in sports, and I have played and
coached a lot of over the years,”
Hartnagel said.
The store, at 3560 Alpine Rd., marks a
new career for Hartnagel, who spent
the last 20 years in the fundraising
business working with coaches and
schools.
He's betting that the store will appeal
to people like himself whose homes are
filled with sports gear collected over
the years for their kids or themselves.
His store offers customers a chance to
sell their stuff for cash or purchase
used equipment for up to 70 percent
discount off the original retail price.
The store generally stocks a range of sports and exercise equipment including hockey equipment, ski & snowboard, lacrosse equipment, baseball gloves and bats, pro-line golf clubs, soccer, motorized treadmills, ellipticals and bikes, benches and weights.
Store hours are 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Monday to Friday, 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday, and 12 p.m.-5 p.m.
Sunday.
