Local food truck event benefits youth sports
The Norcross Youth Baseball and Softball Association in Georgia is embracing the food truck movement and using it to their advantage. The organization set up Peachtree Corners Food Truck Tuesdays at Pinchneyville Park in the community to raise money for the association.
"Food Truck Tuesdays will get people out of their offices and enjoying time with co-workers and friends as they sample food from some of the best trucks in Atlanta," Jay Lowe, a city councilman who is a coach for the youth association told the Gwinnett Daily Post.
The event takes place at the park's baseball and softball complex, and it also includes performances from local musicians.
You can talk to local youth sports officials about getting a similar event started in your community. Not only can you raise money for your child's team, you can encourage local awareness and get to know others. Whether it's food trucks or other local businesses, weekly small events can be beneficial to many people in the community. Events such as the one put on by Norcross provide both parents and students with an opportunity to meet their neighbors, teammates and peers over a delicious meal.
